The Silent Revolution Shaking Up French Venture Capital by Next Gen VC
Behind every unicorn, every record-breaking round, every dazzling success story, there’s a crowd of investors in the shadows. But let’s be honest: venture capital fascinates as much as it intimidates.
Behind the multimillion euro fundraisings and the big name firms lies a harsher truth: VC is a closed world. Governed by networks, pedigree, & connections. Without the right codes or the right introductions, entering the ecosystem often feels like a battle uphill. And yet! Countless students & young professionals dream of cracking this universe… If only they knew where to start.
It’s within this landscape that Eve Sebag and Toscane Porteu de la Morandière (then still students at two of France’s top business schools) launched an audacious challenge: make VC accessible to everyone. Interns in prestigious funds, they quickly discovered the reality of the sector: thrilling, intellectually rich… but complex, opaque and rarely taught in traditional professional paths.
And so Next Gen VC was born.
The biggest barrier? Getting into the room with the right people. The second? Understanding an industry whose rules can be more decisive than technical skills. From these (sometimes) frustrating experiences emerged a conviction. If even they struggled to enter the VC world, how many others were being left?
Their answer? Build the community they wish they had when they started. And just like that, Next Gen VC went from an idea to one of the fastest growing grassroots movements in French VC.
What’s Next Gen VC?
Launched in 2024 as nothing more than a WhatsApp group, Next Gen VC rapidly transformed into something much bigger: a true ecosystem. One year later it brings together more or less 800 members: students, young analysts, founders and aspiring investors.
Its mission is clear: democratize access to venture capital for an entire generation. No selection process. No application form. No elitist barriers. Just curiosity, ambition and a collective desire to learn! The community has since structured itself into three pillars:
(1) A transparent, public directory designed to make the investment landscape easier to navigate (especially for founders and early career talent). (2) A hyper active Whatsapp community where internship offers, deal analyses & real life feedback circulate (daily). (3) Afterworks, workshops, blind VC lunches; of course all engineered to connect, educate and open doors.
But the real magic lies elsewhere. Especially in the culture of mutual support that has taken root within the group. Members help each other with interviews, share tips, mentor freshers & celebrate each other’s wins. Some landed their dream internships thanks to the community while others gained the confidence to apply to top tier funds.
Next Gen VC is not just a network. It’s a springboard.
The Launch of the Website: A Turning Point!

In October 2025, Next Gen VC marked a milestone with the launch of its website. A new way to structure, organize and scale interactions. Designed as an information hub for founders and young talents, it centralizes data on funds, junior investors, investment theses and key contacts. Its goal is quite simple: streamline introductions, strengthen the transparency in the ecosystem and make this previous less intimidating.
Built vibe coding, the site was developed quickly and efficiently. A perfect embodiment of the project’s startup spirit. And more importantly: the site doesn’t replace the WhatsApp community. Instead, it reinforces it. One is the beating heart & the other; the backbone.
A fresh Breeze in an Elitist Industry
In a world still dominated by old school codes (Yes, it’s hard to say), prestige (I know), and exclusivity. Next Gen VC stands for freshness, diversity & accessibility. VC is slowly becoming more inclusive and more female. Eve and Toscane believe in this shift profoundly: “Venture capital is still a very male industry, but it’s also an incredible launchpad for energetic, ambitious young women.”
Their movement resonates because it speaks to a new generation: one that values openness, collaboration, authenticity and shared opportunities.
And Tomorrow?
Today, Eve and Toscane continue evolving in their own careers while nurturing the community they built.
Toscane, an ESCP graduate after Galion.exe joined the operational side by working with Celest Science / a climate prediction startup. Eve, an EDHEC graduate with time spent at Berkeley, is now part of Polytechnique Ventures, the investment arm of the École Polytechnique.
Their strategy? A pure startup mindset: test, learn, iterate. No rigid business plan. No 10 years roadmap.
Just clarity of purpose and adaptability.
They even explored launching a €1k minimum club deal vehicle but dropped the idea. Too early, too complex. Staying true to the community always comes first. Long term, their ambition is crystal clear: make Next Gen VC the go to community in France for young people curious about VC & only then consider international expansion.
Conquer the home base first. The world will come next.
The silent revolution shaking up French Venture Capital has already begun. It’s being led not by firms, nor by institutions, but by two young women who dared to challenge the status quo.
